Stephen Kamada starting playing guitar at the age of 12. Although initially drawn to grunge, classic rock, and metal he would later on get into jazz and fusion. Beginning his professional experience at age 16 playing in clubs he was forced to figure out songs by ear on stage which in turn sharpened his ear. In 2004 he was accepted into the Guitar department of the Musician’s Institute known as GIT. Graduating in 2006 he was hired for a studio guitar position previously held by Chick Corea’s guitarist, Frank Gambale, a gig he would keep for four years. Returning to the San Diego area in 2010, he continues to keep an active profile. In 2013 Stephen joined famed reggae band Big Mountain and can be hear on their most recent release, Perfect Summer. Besides playing guitar in NuVintage and for other groups, he enjoys cooking, walking, working out, spending time with family and friends.
